Het Haagse alternatieve popfenomeen Hallo Venray komt met een nieuw album vol happy sad songs: ‘Coffee and Cake’. Een plaat die wederom vol staat met instant Venray klassiekers. Henk Koorn en zijn band Hallo Venray zijn eigenlijk de Benjamin Button van de Nederlandse indie. Waar normale mensen ouder worden, lijken Koorn en zijn band elk jaar wel jonger en vitaler te worden. Al meer dan 30 jaar maakt Koorn met basgitarist Peter Konings en drummer Henk Jonkers muziek die altijd urgent is. Ze kunnen niet anders. De innerlijke noodzaak spat van er vanaf. Het swingt, het schuurt, het is monter en melancholiek tegelijk.
